A Multilingual Parish Website for Faith, Heritage and Everyday Information
St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Parish serves the Catholic community of Balog nad Ipľom, preserving its religious traditions, local heritage, and community life. The parish needed a more accessible and usable website that would help people find essential information, follow parish activities, and access administrative documents without unnecessary difficulty.
Playful Sparkle developed a structured, multilingual WordPress website that brings parish announcements, Mass schedules, religious events, community activities, historical content, and downloadable forms together in one place. The website combines custom content management with practical calendar functionality, a photographic archive, and interactive visual elements to support the parish’s communication with its community.
Objective
Create a user-friendly Catholic parish website that makes essential information readily accessible while presenting the parish’s religious heritage and community activities. The project also needed to simplify access to current Mass schedules, allow visitors to add selected Masses to their digital calendars, provide downloadable forms for parish administration, and support content publishing across multiple languages.

The completed website gives parishioners a central place to access current Mass schedules, parish announcements, events, community information, and administrative forms. Calendar functionality allows visitors to select relevant Masses and add their schedules to online calendars or mobile calendar applications, making recurring parish activities easier to follow.
The website contains 171 pages across German, English, Latin, Hungarian, and Slovak, with Czech and Polish planned as additional languages. Its structured content covers parish history, religious traditions, sacraments, community groups, and local sacred heritage. The photo gallery documents parish life, while scroll-triggered video sections add interactive visual content to the browsing experience.
The result is a multilingual digital platform that supports the parish’s everyday communication needs while presenting its history, traditions, and community activities in an organized, accessible format.
Approach
The website was organized around the information parishioners need most frequently, including announcements, Mass schedules, church events, sacramental preparation, community groups, and parish administration. Dedicated sections also present the history of the parish, St. Nicholas Church, the Holy Crown tradition, and other religious heritage associated with Balog nad Ipľom.
WordPress and Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) provide the foundation for the site’s content structure. This approach allows different types of parish information to be organized according to their purpose, supporting consistent presentation and ongoing content management.
Mass schedules were implemented with calendar subscription and export options, allowing visitors to choose relevant services and access them through their preferred calendar application. Parish forms and church documents are provided in downloadable formats to make administrative information easier to obtain. The multilingual structure accommodates the parish’s existing language requirements, while interactive, scroll-triggered video elements add motion to selected sections without changing the site’s primary focus on practical information and usability.
