Redesigning a Municipal Website to Improve Public Access to Information
Balog nad Ipľom is a municipality in southern Slovakia that provides residents and visitors with access to public information, municipal services, community news, and local events. The existing website no longer met modern expectations for usability, mobile accessibility, or content management, leading the municipality to commission Playful Sparkle to design and develop a modern website that better serves both citizens and municipal staff.

Design and develop a modern municipal website that improves access to public information, simplifies navigation, supports mobile devices, and provides an accessible platform for publishing news, official documents, and community updates.

Impact
The redesigned website provides residents and visitors with faster access to municipal information through improved navigation, responsive layouts, and a clearer content structure. The new platform also gives municipal staff a more efficient way to manage announcements, public documents, and community updates while establishing a scalable foundation for future digital services.
Approach
The project began with an assessment of the existing website structure, user journeys, and content organization to identify opportunities for improving accessibility and navigation. A new information architecture was developed to make municipal information easier to locate, followed by responsive interface design and Joomla implementation. Technical SEO, performance optimization, and content organization were incorporated throughout the development process to support long-term usability, maintainability, and search visibility.
