Modernizing a Traditional Graduation Tableau Through Interactive Design
Základná škola Arnolda Ipolyiho commissioned Playful Sparkle to create a graduation tableau for its 2024 ninth-grade class that reflects the interests and personality of today’s students. Inspired by the visual language of modern music streaming platforms, the design combines traditional graduation portraits with personalized digital elements to create a memorable keepsake that connects a long-standing school tradition with contemporary design.

Design a graduation tableau that preserves the tradition of commemorating graduating students while introducing a modern visual concept with personalized content, interactive QR codes, and a layout that resonates with today’s generation.

The completed tableau transformed a traditional graduation display into an engaging commemorative piece that reflects the character of the graduating class. By combining print design with interactive digital elements, the project created a memorable keepsake that was well received by students, teachers, parents, and the wider school community while preserving the significance of the graduation tradition.
Approach
The project began by defining a concept that balanced tradition with a contemporary digital aesthetic. Individual student portraits were integrated into a structured layout inspired by familiar music streaming interfaces, while personalized song selections and QR codes added an interactive element to the printed tableau. Typography, colour, and composition were carefully coordinated to maintain readability, visual consistency, and professional print quality.
