An Alias Name Record (ANAME / ALIAS) record provides the flexibility of a CNAME but can be used at the “Apex” or Root of a domain (e.g., example.com).
Standard DNS rules prevent using a CNAME for a root domain. The ANAME solves this by acting as a “virtual” record that automatically resolves to the A record of the target domain at the DNS provider level. This is commonly used when pointing a root domain to a CDN or a Load Balancer.
