Client Overview
Základná škola Arnolda Ipolyiho, located in Balog nad Ipľom, Slovakia, is a primary school known for its deep connection to the cultural and historical heritage of the region. The institution sought to celebrate a significant milestone with the creation of a Jubilee Commemorative Book, or "Jubileumi Emlékkönyv." The school approached us to design a book cover that would not only capture the essence of this celebration but also reflect the institution's values and identity. The client emphasized the importance of using the main colors from the school's website—soft beige, warm taupe, deep brown, and light brown—to ensure consistency and a strong visual connection between the school’s digital and printed materials.
Objective
The primary objective of this graphic design project was to create a book cover for the Jubilee Commemorative Book that would resonate with the school community. The design needed to be both celebratory and reflective, honoring the school's history while looking forward to its future.

Solution
Design Concept
The creative direction for the Jubilee Commemorative Book cover was rooted in the idea of celebrating the school’s rich history and the generations of students who have passed through its doors. Inspiration was drawn from various sources, including archival photographs of the school and its surroundings, as well as the cultural symbols associated with the institution.
The cover features four carefully selected photographs that highlight different aspects of the school: its architecture, the iconic statue of a schoolgirl that symbolizes the institution, and a timeless image of the school building. These elements were chosen to evoke a sense of nostalgia and pride. On the back cover, a photograph of Arnold Ipolyi, the school's namesake, is prominently displayed, accompanied by one of his inspirational quotes. The design is further enriched by the school’s flag, which is displayed in the top right corner, symbolizing pride and continuity.
Design Process
The design process began with the creation of mood boards that explored different visual directions, combining historical elements with modern design principles. Initial sketches were developed based on these mood boards, focusing on the arrangement of photographs and the integration of the school's color palette. The client provided feedback at various stages, helping to refine the concept and ensure that it met their expectations.

Final Deliverables

Implementation
The final design was brought to life in collaboration with KT Könyv- és Lapkiadó Kft., the printing company responsible for producing the special edition of the Jubilee Commemorative Book. The print quality was a top priority, ensuring that the colors were vibrant and true to the original design, and that the images were sharp and clear.
The use of high-quality paper and printing techniques ensured that the final product was both durable and visually striking.
Success Metrics
