Measures to support accessibility

Playful Sparkle takes the following measures to ensure accessibility of Playful Sparkle:

• Include accessibility as part of our mission statement.
• Include accessibility throughout our internal policies.
• Appoint an accessibility officer and/or ombudsperson.
• Provide continual accessibility training for our staff.
• Assign clear accessibility goals and responsibilities.
• Employ formal accessibility quality assurance methods.

Conformance Status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.

Playful Sparkle is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA (opens in new window), Technical standard EN 301 549 v.3.2.1 (opens in new window), Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act (opens in new window), and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) (opens in new window). Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.

Limitations and Alternatives

Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of the Playful Sparkle website, we are aware of some limitations, which we are working to fix. Below is a description of known limitations and potential solutions. Please contact us if you encounter an issue not listed below.

• reCaptcha: The external service we use to protect forms against spam bots injects a textarea input field without an associated label and an iframe that is not accessible to users. Unfortunately, because this is an external service, we do not have the ability to address these issues directly but are exploring alternative solutions.
